SKI HOLIDAYS IN GEORGIA

Georgia is an attractive place for skiing enthusiasts. More and more travelers are choosing Georgia as their next ski destination. There are four popular ski resorts in Georgia that are the best choice for local and international travelers: Gudauri, Bakuriani, Mestia and the highlands of Adjara. In winter ski resorts, it is recommended to use AWD 4X4 vehicles with good winter tires and chains.

Mtskheta - Mtianeti, Stepantsminda (Kazbegi)

Gudauri ski resort is located in the Kazbegi municipality. Gudauri is located approximately 120 kilometers from Tbilisi, a 2-hour drive. The winter season lasts from December to March.

Gudauri ski slopes are designed for all levels of skiing. The total length of the ski road is 70 kilometers, including 20 ski runs. Ski slopes generally have 4 different difficulty levels: beginner, intermediate, advanced and professional. Gudauri is a favorable place for lovers of skiing on unmarked snow. Its sloping slopes make this possible.

The main advantage of Gudauri is its proximity to Tbilisi and the variety of trails. Thanks to this, Gudauri has become the best place to spend a weekend for residents of Tbilisi. People often come here for the day, you can leave by car at 8 am, go for a drive and at 7 pm you will be in Tbilisi.

Samtskhe - Javakheti, Borjomi

Bakuriani ski resort is located in Borjomi municipality. Bakuriani Mountain Ski Resort is the oldest ski resort in the Caucasus.

Bakuriani is about 180 kilometers away from Tbilisi, it can be reached in about 2 hours from Tbilisi. The climate is distinguished by healing properties, and for this reason, Bakuriani attracts many vacationers every season. January and February are the best months for the winter season.

Bakuriani road is sometimes covered with snow or ice, so winter tires are necessary when traveling by car.

It should be noted that Bakuriani is not an ideal place for a professional skier, because the quality and quantity of snow is relatively less in Bakuriani than in other Georgian ski resorts. That is why Bakuriani ski resort is recommended for beginners and intermediate level skiers.

Kokhta ski resort is located in Borjomi municipality (Bakuriani community). It is 5 kilometers from Bakuriani.     

Resort Kokhta ski tracks are of different difficulty: medium and experienced. Resort Kokhta is connected to resort Mitarb by a cable car.

Mitarbi ski resort, located in Borjomi municipality (Bakuriani community). It is 7 kilometers away from Bakuriani.

Skiing roads at Mitarbi resort are of different difficulty: medium, experienced and professional. The total length of the ski roads is 10 kilometers. Mitarbi resort is connected to Kokhta resort by cable car.
Svaneti, Mestia

The mountain-ski resort of Tetnuld is located in Zemo Svaneti, Mestia municipality. The resort is 15 kilometers from Mestia. The average transportation time from Tbilisi to Mestia is 8 hours, and from Mestia to Tetnuld Resort is 1 hour.

Tetnuld ski track, the longest in Transcaucasia - 9.5 km. And it has the biggest vertical drop - 1.7 km. The total length of ski tracks is 30 kilometers.

The ski season at the resort lasts from December to April, but the best period is January - February. Tetnuld is distinguished by one of the longest ski seasons.

Tetnuld offers vacationers a variety of activities: skiing, snowboarding, freeride, ski touring, heliskiing, paragliding, horseback riding tours, and more.

Ski resort Tetnuld is a business card - constantly new, large and high-quality snow, for lovers of skiing in unmarked snow. Also its location, views of the majestic peaks - peak Ushba and peak Tetnuld. A variety of environments for fans of different styles of skating and just a lot of adventure.

The positive side of the resort is the quality of the snow and the rich environment for snow skiing. Here you can skate both in the forest and on the extremely steep slopes of Tetnuld. It snows quite often at the resort, which creates an ideal environment for skiers of any level.

Ski resort Hatsvali is located in Svaneti, 8 kilometers from Mestia. You can get here from Mestia very quickly and easily. Hatsvali is connected to Mestia by both an asphalt road and a cable car.

Here you will find tracks of all kinds of difficulty.

For beginner skiers, there are two lifts: Slalom and Biegel. Intermediate and professional skiers can use the Zuruldi cable car and descend on difficult or intermediate slopes.

As for adventurous extremes, they can try their hand at very steep slopes in dense forests. Night lights are installed on Hatsval and night skating is often held.

Hatsvali resort works all year round. However, the most passive period is in October and November. Cable cars may not work during this period. In winter, all cable cars in the resort are switched on.

The positive side of Hatsval is its location, snow and forest cover. It is one of the best places to learn snow skiing. Here you will meet all kinds of surfaces - forest, natural springboards, very steep slopes, natural obstacles and many others. If you're an expert in backcountry skiing, you'll definitely find places on the slopes where you can test yourself. The slopes of Hatsval are covered with dense forest, which reduces the risk of avalanches and makes it safer to ski in untracked snow.

Adjara, Khulo

Mountain-ski resort Goderdzi is located in the southwestern part of Georgia, in the mountainous Adjara, at the Goderdze pass. Due to its proximity to the Black Sea, this place has abundant rainfall, which makes the resort very attractive. Goderdzi resort is distinguished by impressive nature, beautiful views, clean air and diverse landscape. One of the best for those who like to ski in unmarked snow. Skiing is possible in the alpine zone, dense coniferous forest and even in villages.

It is possible to get to the ski resort Goderdzi with your own car. An off-road vehicle is essential in winter.
